The Indian Government has implemented various policy initiatives over the years to foster the growth of the hydropower sector in the country, including the National Electricity Policy 2005, National Tariff Policy 2016, National Rehabilitation & Resettlement Policy 2007, and the Right to Fair Compensation & Transparency in Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation and Resettlement Act 2013. In addition, on March 8th, 2019, the Government introduced further measures to promote the hydro power sector, which include the following provisions:
